Sr. Rose Clarisse Gadoury, S.S.A. passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2017. Sr. Rose Clarisse was a former faculty member of Pope St. John XXIII National Seminary for 33 years, from 1975-2008.  She served our community as both a spiritual director and a classroom instructor.

Is God calling you? Have you contemplated the Priesthood and would like to learn more?

On Friday and Saturday - February 10th and 11th - Pope St. John XXIII National Seminary is hosting a Discernment Retreat for men over the age of 30 who are interested in Priesthood. His Eminence, Seán Cardinal O'Malley, OFM Cap., Archbishop of Boston, will be in attendance. Attendees will have the opportunity to live and pray with the Pope St. John XXIII National Seminary community, attend classes and discussion groups, and socialize with seminarians, faculty and staff.

Before the busy Advent and Christmas seasons at Pope St. John XXIII National Seminary, we celebrated an important step in the formation of our seminarians in the Class of 2020.   On December 7th, the Vigil of the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, Most Reverend James Massa, Auxiliary Bishop of the Diocese of Brooklyn (also current PSJS XXIII Board member and a former faculty member), instituted these men to serve in a new way in the celebration of Mass.

On Nov. 1, the Solemnity of All Saints, the PSJS XXIII community welcomed to the house Most Rev. Robert C. Evans, Auxiliary Bishop of the Diocese of Providence.  Bishop Evans was with us to institute twelve of our seminarians to the Ministry of Reader.

This ceremony marks an important step towards ordination. Though they may have been lectors in their own parishes or ministries, now they encounter God's Word in a deeper sense. They proclaim the Scriptures and embrace the role of teachers of God's Word.

We recently welcomed PSJS XXIII Alumni back to Weston on October 18-19.  Msgr. Jim Burnett, Class of 1974 of the Diocese of Davenport in Iowa hadn’t been back since ordination! His permanent smile lit up the halls for two days…we think he enjoyed his visit!
